On my latest thrifting excursion I was stopped by a shopper asking me for thrifting advice. Specifically she was trying to choose between two different black tops to pair with a very vibrant and rich colored purple pencil skirt. Both tops were equally stylish. The only thing wrong with one of the tops was that the color was fading. I told her to buy it and then dye it. She was shocked to learn that she could dye her clothes.
Most supermarkets sell clothing dye for relatively low prices. If you don’t want to dye clothes in your washing machine you can boil them in a large pot on your stove. This is a great way to renew by changing their color or refreshing a fading favorite piece of clothing.
The next time you are out thrifting don’t let a little fading deter you for buying a fabulous piece. Just buy it and then dye it! It will look brand new.
